Mentor

David started using substances at the tender age of nine which lead onto harder drugs in a progression from cannabis to heroin. This led to years of involvement with criminal justice and serving a sentence in jail.

A family bereavement changed David’s thinking and outlook and he realised he couldn’t live his life like that anymore. David reengaged with a CPN and followed a support programme where he then decreased his prescription and has been clean since 28th February 2018.

Now David lives his life focusing on his key principles which are: honesty, open mindedness and willingness which he lives by daily.

David is a Peer Mentor with Aid & Abet which gives him an enormous sense of pride and achievement as he feels it is important to use his lived experience to support and for the benefit of other people in the same position he was.
