Leith Academy YPI Project

Leith Academy pupils picked Aid & Abet as part of their Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) project. The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme which empowers #generationchange to make a difference in their local communities while developing a host of skills. Each participating school, each year is responsible for directing a £3000 YPI grant to a local charity through a unique programme of teamwork, research and competition.

The Leith Academy pupils contacted Aid & Abet to invite our mentors to visit their school so they could share their project ideas. Their project research was on drug addiction and homlessness and wanted to show these in a short video. Our mentors met with the pupils and shared their experiences and the pupils came to visit Donald and Kevin’s workplace at Edinburgh’s Westend Police station where they filmed some of their video.

This was an inspiring project to be involved with and we were very grateful to receive the YPI Grant donation from this group of young people.
